About Hugh

Hugh studied Creative Music Technology at Falmouth University, where he earned a 1st class degree. During this time he produced two solo albums under the name Miraduel: ‘Send My Love To Xixazikal’ and ‘mmm…’

Graduating at the start of the pandemic, Hugh turned his attention to video game music. He took part in the 2020 Tranzfuser competition, where he composed music for two game demos.

Following that he composed music for ‘Mad Chess,’ a demo called ‘The Little Green Mage,’ and most notably ‘Never Second in Rome,’ amongst other smaller commissions.

For the ‘Never Second in Rome’ soundtrack, one YouTube commenter commented:

“The soundscape of these melodies is so memorable that they now carry a bit of my soul; The exact part of life I have encountered the game and the atmosphere, all of it in these subtle notes.”

Starting in 2023, he worked as a graduate assistant in music technology and AV at St Edward’s School Oxford. Having gained experience in the classroom alongside his work for productions and events, he was employed as the full-time music technician at Headington Rye School, Oxford. While living in Oxford Hugh sang with the Hertford College choir.

During this time Hugh was still working on music, and completed his third and most accomplished album ‘Narrowing Winter.’

Hugh primarily plays piano and acoustic guitar, and has a love for music theory and ear-training. He is highly proficient in digital audio workstations, particularly Logic Pro.

In terms of personal music taste, Hugh is a lover of folk and classical music. This is reflected in his writing, particularly on ‘Narrowing Winter’.
